A lactic peel uses lactic acid, one of the gentlest peel ingredients, to brighten dull skin, even out tone and add hydration with no visible peeling, just smoother skin. It is our pregnancy and breastfeeding friendly peel, and a great option for sensitive skin. At Crystal Ngozi Beauty & Esthetics in Tucker, GA, we treat all skin types and specialize in Black and brown skin, and we ask every expecting client to check with her OB-GYN before treatment.
Hormones change everything, including your skin
During pregnancy and after baby, hormones can trigger dark patches often called the “mask of pregnancy,” new breakouts, dullness and extra sensitivity. At the same time, many of your usual products and stronger peels are off the table.
Our lactic peel gives you a safe place to keep caring for your skin. It gently lifts away dull surface cells and draws in moisture, leaving skin brighter, smoother and more even, without the irritation that can leave melanin-rich skin darker.

Made for this season, and for sensitive skin
- Expecting and breastfeeding moms who want safe, glowing skin
- New moms dealing with dullness, uneven tone or dark patches after baby
- Sensitive skin that does not tolerate stronger peels
- All skin types, with a specialty in Black and brown skin
Your OB-GYN and your skin both come first
We ask every expecting client to check with her OB-GYN before treatment. A lactic peel is not recommended if you have a sunburn, open wounds, active cold sores or an allergy to its ingredients. Pregnancy dark patches often need a longer plan after baby, and we will build that melasma plan with you when the time is right.
Skin of color is our specialty, not a side note
Our licensed esthetics team builds every protocol around melanin-rich skin: how it heals, how it holds pigment and how to get results without setbacks.
Lactic Peel FAQ
What is a lactic peel?
A lactic peel uses lactic acid, a gentle alpha hydroxy acid, to lift away dull surface cells while drawing moisture into the skin. It brightens, smooths and evens tone with very little flaking, which makes it a great choice for sensitive skin.
Is a lactic peel safe during pregnancy?
Our lactic peel is our pregnancy and breastfeeding friendly peel. Because every pregnancy is different, we ask that you check with your OB-GYN before any treatment, and we tailor your facial to your skin and your stage of pregnancy.
Can I get a lactic peel while breastfeeding?
Yes. Our lactic peel is also our breastfeeding friendly option, and it is a great way to refresh tired, dull or uneven skin after baby.
Which peels should I avoid while pregnant or breastfeeding?
At our clinic, the VI Peel, BioRePeel and TCA peels are not offered during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Our lactic peel is the peel we recommend during this time.
Will I peel after a lactic peel?
Most clients see no peeling at all, just smoother, brighter skin. You can go about your normal routine right away.
Can a lactic peel help melasma or dark spots during pregnancy?
It can help brighten and gently even out tone. Pregnancy melasma is driven by hormones, so daily sun protection is essential, and many clients see more improvement after pregnancy with a longer-term melasma plan.
Is a lactic peel good for dark skin and sensitive skin?
Yes. Lactic acid is one of the gentlest peel ingredients, so it brightens without the irritation that can trigger dark spots on melanin-rich or sensitive skin.
How often can I get a lactic peel?
For the best glow and brightening, we recommend a series spaced every two to four weeks, most often every two weeks. We fine-tune the timing at your consultation.
Who should not get a lactic peel?
A lactic peel is not recommended if you have a sunburn, open wounds, active cold sores or an allergy to any of its ingredients.
Do you offer payment plans?
Yes. We offer flexible payment plans through Cherry and Klarna, plus single peels, series and combination plans, so there is an option for every budget.
Do I need a consultation first?
Yes. We check that the lactic peel is right for your skin, and for your pregnancy or breastfeeding stage, at your consultation. Your first visit includes a custom facial, so it is already treatment.
